Benefits of Exercising Outdoors

Now that winter is over there’s nothing like getting back outdoors…ESPECIALLY for working out. Today, I went to my fav place so far in NC and since I absolutely love it up there, I decided to write a blog post around it. I get my weight training in at the gym but love getting my cardio in outdoors.

Benefit #1

It’s good for your mind as well as your body

It’s really good for your body but there are so many benefits to the mind as well!

  1. More energy
  2. Decreased confusion
  3. Decreased anger
  4. Decreased depression
  5. Decreased tension
  6. Increased enjoyment which leads to greater adherence to a workout schedule

Benefit #2

Increase in confidence

Exercise as well as the fresh air in nature and non judgy wildlife can make you feel really good about yourself.

Benefit #3

Vitamin D3 has been known to improve bone health and metabolic function. Plus, who doesn’t like sunshine!?

Benefit #4

It’s so much more cost effective

Depending on where you go, working out in nature costs virtually nothing, especially if you just go to the park.

While nature is AMAZING for cardio, it’s also good for bodyweight strength training. Or…if you’re feeling froggy and have your own dumbbells there’s nothing wrong with taking them with you.

But for some bodyweight stuff, try walking lunges, pushups, sit-ups, step-ups on a bench, pull-ups on monkey bars (or some parks like this one have workout stations along the way), squats, burpees, etc…

Another great thing about working out outdoors is you’re not limited to who you take with you. Take your kids, your spouse, a friend, or a pet with you and it makes the enjoyment even better!

As always, love you all!
